When DNA evidence reopened the case in 2017, the victim told the jury during her testimony she was shocked to learn the DNA profile matched Moon, a man she said she met in either 2015 or 2016 when they both rented rooms in the same house. Moon was arrested nearly four years after the assault, in August 2017, when DNA analysts were able to create a profile from the DNA samples collected immediately after the attack. It is the Coloradoan’s policy to not name victims of sexual assault.
